had to pop brake lock. is this serious?

    On my way home, got 400 miles to go. Stopped for gas and then gear shift would not move. Thanks to YouTube I popped the shift lock and got it working.
    Is this a serious issue? Can I make it home and then have it looked at? I'm in a hotel for the night so no biggie right now.
